She joined the Met Office after graduation in 2003. She was allocated to the Cardiff Weather Centre in October 2004 after finishing her training, where she received experience broadcasting on BBC Radio Wales. She transferred to RAF Brize Norton in 2005, where she provided aeronautical meteorology reports and briefings to Royal Air Force transport crews as well as the British Forces Broadcasting Service’s media.
Tobin joined the BBC Weather Centre forecasting team at the end of 2007, and has since appeared on the BBC News channel, BBC World News, BBC Radio 5 Live, and the BBC Red Button interactive on-demand services available on digital terrestrial and satellite TV. She also presented the weather for BBC News at One on a regular basis.She became the weather presenter for the newly revamped breakfast show Daybreak on September 3, 2012. Tobin made an appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Innuendo Bingo on July 18, 2013. Daybreak was replaced by Good Morning Britain in April 2014, although Tobin continues to host the weather updates on the show.
Tobin performed an original Christmas song called Rock With Rudolph with 26 other celebrities in 2018. The song was recorded in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital and was published digitally on November 30th, 2018 by independent record company Saga Entertainment.
